Terms of Service
1. What the Service is
VideoIndex is an open-source system for indexing and asking questions about long videos. The website describes the project. The demo at videoindex.app lets you ask questions about a fixed set of publicly available YouTube videos and shows answers with timestamps. The demo is provided free of charge for evaluation. Access to the API at api.videoindex.app is by issued key only.
The software itself is licensed separately under the Apache License 2.0; these terms cover use of the hosted Service, not the code.
2. Accounts and allowance
Using the demo requires signing in with a Google or GitHub account. You must be at least 16 and use your own account. Each account receives a limited number of questions per day; we may change the allowance, suspend accounts or turn the demo off at any time without notice, since answering questions costs us money.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to bypass sign-in, allowances or rate limits, or to access indexes or keys you were not given;
- use automated tools to submit questions except through an API key we issued to you;
- probe, scan or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure;
- use the Service to harass, defame or infringe the rights of others, or in breach of applicable law;
- resell the Service or present its output as your own product without attribution.
4. Content
The videos in the demo belong to their respective owners and are played through YouTube's embedded player under YouTube's terms. Answers are generated by machine learning models from the videos' speech, on-screen text and frames. They may be incomplete or wrong. Check the cited moment before relying on an answer. You may use the answers you receive for any lawful purpose; we claim no rights in your questions.
5. Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
6. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and availability. It is an evaluation demo, not a production service.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VideoIndex and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits or business, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for it, which for the free demo is zero.
8. Changes and termination
We may change these terms; the effective date above and the public page history record when. Continued use after a change means you accept it. You may stop using the Service at any time; sign out to remove your session.
